THIRTEEN FOR TIGER

well, today tiger made it 13 of 13 when leading a major after 54 holes. today wasn't a coast, but it really never seemed to be in danger of slipping from his grasp. as soon as he bogeyed 14, and his lead shrunk to 1 stroke, he ponied-up and birdied 15 to increase his lead back to 2. it never left from that point.

i enjoyed the whole afternoon. i love it when the best player in the world wins a major golf tournament. the stories aren't as nice as when zach johnson snuck up and won the masters, or when the unlikely argentinian won at oakmont. i have to admit that it wasn't even as good as watching paddy win at carnoustie last month in his home country. but that being said, i still want to see the best players play their best at the four biggest tournaments of the year. and that means seeing tiger a lot. i am a product of my generation. i want to see tiger smash the records of all the golfers. michael jordan was better than bill russell, wilt the stilt or pistol pete. troy aikman was better than johnny unitas or roger staubach. i think my guys are the best and i want to see them win everything. not sure what that says about me, but that's just me. the only place this doesn't apply is in baseball - the yankees suck...always have and always will!

by the way, today i witnessed some sports greatness as the houston astros honored craig biggio. craig's oldest son stood up at minute maid park and delivered some incredible words about his dad. yesterday, i watched the story of a father dedicating his whole life to partnering with his disabled child to assist him in becoming all that he can be. today, tiger comes off the course and is greeted by his brand new daughter. tonight, i went in and calmed my son down as he tries to batten down the hatches for the evening. and now rhonda is off putting garin to bed. i love being a dad!

um, what about Joe Montana? :-)

about children, I have recently had the opportunity to spend some time with a lovely 2 year old little girl. I was amazed at how quickly I became attached. I was amazed at how my heart filled to the brim with warm fuzzies when she came running up to me and launched herself into my lap giving me a very nice hug. such a simple thing, such a very significant pleasure.
