For those of you who think we are crazy for trying to be the church the way we are, you may be right...but we are not alone. Take a look at this video and know it's the preferred future of "church" and it's where we are headed...the active presence of Christ in every neighborhood. The Tangible Kingdom - one that people can see, hear, touch, smell and taste where they are...not in some building with nice chairs, good lighting and big screens. We love that too, but it's not where the Church is...it's where you live...and where you live...and where I live...you are a spring and I am a spring...and we are the Church at the Springs...enjoy.

Wow! That was a great clip! It said so much without saying much of anything! I forwarded it to many of my friends who have sorta raised an eyebrow when I tell them about The Springs (or even PBC, for that matter). Maybe now my dad will stop asking me when we plan to build our own building, after seeing this video. I have never been able to make him understand that a building to call our own is very low on our priority list.
I like the 'visual aid' to what I keep hearing and reading about. Nice.
It starts with those who are committed to the cause of Christ. Those who want to go and make a difference. Nice visual...shows that it is more than just about ourselves, but about others who are in desperate need of the truth.
The poignant moment in video is when the guy is driving home from church and he sees the people in a front yard with the bbq grill having fun and interacting with each other. At that moment, his paradigm shifts from church being at a building with rows to the possibility of a front yard, or a ski slope, or a coffee shop, or a skate park, or a home! When we catch this concept, God will change our communties through our parties...through our connections!
2nd time to try this post.
Word scramble thing gets me all the time! The scramble below looks pretty easy, so think I'll be ok this time!
I, too, will be e-mailing this to some family/friends...like Andrea.
Sometimes it is hard to think "outside the box," or in this case, "outside the building." It is not about the building, the chairs, or the amount of programs, and the # attending the programs. I think it is about the people, the community, the neighbors, and most importantly: the relationships.
You know exactly when the guy in the video got that! After church, he saw "life" happening during a front yard BBQ. You saw the grin on his face as he drove off. You knew he was about to go do something cool.
Pretty gool, GartMan.
