It's Monday, and it's December 3rd. The day after our second preview
service of the fall and third overall gathering at the YMCA. The
previews were designed with two goals in mind. First, we wanted to
have some test-runs regarding church in a portable setting. The Y is
brand new and they are still working out kinks - we've had alarms go
off, lights go out and yesterday a cleaning crew commandeered the men's
locker room which took out our main restroom facility for the adult
men. Those really are minor issues and the Y has really been
incredible. We are excited to be there and I really believe that the
partnership we are building with the leadership at the Y could produce
incredible fruit for our community.
Second, we hoped that our previews would give people a taste of what
our church is about. Cameron taught at the November service and he
did a great job explaining who we want the church to be - living
springs welling up wherever we live, work and play. I taught
yesterday about the value of community and Neighborhood Life. The
services were great and we've seen 12 families asked to be added to
our mailing list who live in our community. We've got a great base
forming for the regularly scheduled gatherings which begin in January.
If you've been praying for us during this season, we cannot tell you
how much we appreciate your doing so. We ask that you continue to do
so because we still have some big hills out in front of us
financially. We have no reason to doubt that God will continue to
shine faithful during this next phase of the journey - the day to day
operations now take front row in the priority list. As we continue to
build into our families the value of day-to-day discipleship and the
importance of reaching out into the "hoods", I am excited about what
tomorrow holds.
